We cannot lose the ones we love,
For even when they're gone,
We feel their gentle presence
In the hush of every dawn...
We see them in the sunlight
that makes the day so bright,
In the flowers of the springtime
And in the starts at night...
We cannot lose the ones we love,
For they will always stay
In all that's bright and beautiful
Around us day by day.

In the spring of life,
In the flower of youth,
Everything is bright and new.
In the summer of life,
Time of growth and change,
Each day brings new dreams to pursue.
In the autumn of life,
There's a settling down -
Contentment and sureness in what we do.
In the winter of life,
Comes peace and wisdom,
Time to relax and reminisce, too -
But with the passing of these seasons,
Life is still not done, not through,
For there is yet another seson,
When each spirit is renewed.
And it is in this calm fifth season,
In this hopeful second spring,
A time of cleansing and rebirth,
A time of new awakening.
Each person's life will come full circle,
Even as the seasons do,
To start another, different life,
Much better than the one we knew.

Today is May 2nd and I just found out that Pete died. I am so very sorry and want to add my heartfelt condolences. I worked at DPW with Pete for many years. I was in the office but our paths would cross during the day. I have many memories in fifteen years but I’ll leave you with a few. He got that yellow Mini and inspired me to get one. He came to see it and told me he would put a dent in his so he wouldn’t have to worry about getting one. Then when he did the walk around, he found one on my car! Years later he cleaned my car for me knowing we were going to travel. We drove all the way to Illinois with a very fragrant air freshener, and back again, never realizing he put it under the mat! He always had his head buried in the welder and I only wish I knew I wasn’t supposed to look at the arc unprotected. Ah well, those were fun days. We almost became relatives when Wednesday dated my cousin’s son. I was so excited! I saw Pete awhile ago at a funeral service we both went to. He looked great! And happy about his life. It was a mini reunion during a sad occasion. Well, those things popped into my head, but as for Peter the man, he was always on my A list and will be remembered as a good guy. I love pigeons. Was that a pet? I could see him training one. Rest in Peace, Pete.

Although I never met Pete, I feel like I knew him through all the wonderful postings by my friends Pat & Wednesday thru the years. I believe Pete is watching over his loved ones and friends with perhaps the following sentiment in mind:
I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one,
I'd like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that I leave
when life is done.

I remember how hands on he was when his daughter was buying a home. He was truly happy for her and wanted everything to be safe and perfect. I only met him a few times, but I saw a loving father.
My thoughts and prayers are with this family. ❤️
