Obituary of Carol Mooney Kemp
Carol "Mooney" Kemp.
Carol was born on July 16, 1958, in Wilkes Barre, PA, to the late Thomas and Madeline "Giampa" Mooney. Carol grew up in Washington and graduated from Warren Hills High School class of 1976. She earned a degree in education from Moravian College. While at Moravian she was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi sorority where she held leadership positions. She followed her calling and became an English teacher. She worked for the Old Turnpike Middle School in Tewksbury for more than 24 years before her retirement in 2008. While at Old Turnpike School, she coached cheerleading, directed the 8th grade musicals, produced the district yearbook, was the advisor of the 8th grade class officers, and impacted countless lives. In 2003 she received Moravian's Benigna Education Award, recognizing an alumni for their outstanding contributions to the field of education. Administrators, college professors, elementary and secondary teachers, and all those in the teaching profession are eligible. The recipient is one who has made significant innovations in the teaching profession, or otherwise substantially impacted the education process, and has demonstrated dedication to the community at large. Carol was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies. She loved vacationing in Cape May, her trips to the beach, and her beloved dog Tippi. Carol will be remembered as a kind person who always thought of others before herself. She will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she profoundly touched.
Carol is survived by many special friends, whom she considered family. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Carol’s name to the MS Society. https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Donate
