Obituary of Dorothy E. Antizzo

Dorothy Emily Copeland Antizzo, 91, formerly of Frederick, MD passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 4th, 2010. Born: She was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 23, 1918, Dorothy was a daughter of James C. and Emily Collins Copeland. Personal: She was predeceased by her husband, James, in 1979. She lived on White Bridge Road in Quakertown, NJ, before moving to Maryland 12 years ago. She recently returned to NJ to stay with her daughter and son-in-law in Washington, where she was lovingly cared for by the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice staff. She graduated from Manual Training High School in 1935, and was a member of the Manual Training High School League of The Arista. She was also a Pace Institute graduate. Dorothy was an avid gardener, reader, and accomplished pianist. She loved cooking and baking as well as bird watching, writing poetry, listening to classical music, opera, talk radio and following politics. She loved animals, especially her companion of many years Muffy. Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Memberships: A life-long Episcopalian, Dorothy was also a member of the Pleasant Plains of Damascus, (MD), National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the O.S.S. Society, (forerunner to the C.I.A.) Her brother Oliver Copeland served in the O.S.S. during WWII in the Burma Theater. Survivors: children, three daughters, Nancy and husband Leon Liguori of River Vale, NJ, Faith Antizzo of Frederick, MD, and Dorothy and husband Patrick DelCampo of Washington, NJ; three sons, James and wife Karen of Ijamsville, MD, Paul and wife Cindy of Jonesboro, GA, and Stephen and wife Rose of Greene, NY; grandchildren, Alyssa and husband Jason, Whitney and husband Brian, Laura, Dorothea, Joshua and wife Alissa, James and wife Tara, Stephen, Michelle, Paul and wife Melissa, and Nancy; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Nathan, Penelope, Eve, Jack, Abigail, Samuel, Katelyn, Noah, Sophia, and Talon; nieces and nephews, Laura Brooks, Barbara, Audrey and husband Bill, Julie and husband Claude, (children) Hunter and Audrey, and Susan. A special thank you to Dr. Catherine Fallick, Dr. Stephen Williams, Dr. Steven Boyce, Dr. Neil Waravdekar, Dr. Kelly Shine, Dr. Sadaf Taimur, and the many others who took such loving care of Dorothy these last few years at Washington Hospital Center and Frederick Memorial Hospital. Your dedication and love was greatly appreciated by Dorothy and her family. Services: Viewing hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, February 13th and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, February 14th at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ. Pastor Joshua Strunk, Dorothy's grandson, will lead services in the chapel immediately following Sunday's viewing. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ.
