Obituary of George Krepley Walton
George Krepley Walton 68, of Hampton, NJ died peacefully on November 1, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family.
Born: George was born to Joseph G. Walton and Ann Krepley on July 11, 1945 in New York City.
Personal: The family moved to Bordentown, NJ where George was raised. After graduating from Trenton Catholic High School he attended St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia where he was a member of the Glee Club. While there he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History. After completing college, George enlisted in the U.S. Navy during which time he met his first wife, Frances Bergen. Upon finishing his service, George earned his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers Law School in Camden. His first job out of law school was as a law clerk at the Hunterdon County Courthouse and while there he caught the eye of Senator Wesley L. Lance, for whom he worked for several years. He then took over the practice of former Hunterdon County Prosecutor Herbert T. Heisel in Frenchtown before later moving the practice to Milford. George served his community in many capacities including as a Lector and Sunday School teacher at St. Ann's Church, President and coach for the Hampton Recreation Association, and President of the Hunterdon County Bar Association. George was an attorney for many public entities including thirty years of pro bono work for the Hunterdon County Board of Appeals. He passed his love of the Pittsburgh Pirates on to his children. An avid baseball fan, history buff, TV drama and classic film enthusiast, George loved the quiet of his home and company of his closest family and friends.
Survivors: George is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Kathleen, loving sons, Robert and wife Kathleen, Matthew and wife Alecia, and step-son Jason Ivenz. He is also survived by his brother Gregory and wife Maureen and 5 grandchildren, Michael, Ava, Alexander, Samantha, and Greyson. George is predeceased by his first wife, Frances Bergen.
Services: Friends and family may call on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 45 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, NJ 08505 Burial will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery.
