Obituary of Genevieve Swahn
Genevieve C. Swahn, 65, of Washington, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, in Brakeley Park Care Center, Lopatcong Township.
Born: November 3, 1941, in Queens, N.Y., a daughter of Ann McAuley of Fla. and the late Howard McAuley.
Personal: She and her husband, Edward, were married 45 years. Genevieve had previously resided in Knowlton Township and Smithtown, Long Island. She attended Newfield High School, class of 1961 and also earned an associates degree in Culinary Arts from North Hampton College. Genevieve was employed as a head regional cook at Mountainview Correctional facility, Annandale, for 11 years, retiring in 2005. Memberships: She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also involved in the Out Reach Ministry, bible study, and taught religious ed.
Survivors: Her loving husband, Edward; three daughters, Catherine Boccard of East Hanover, N.J., Lori Swahn of Philadelphia and Patricia Swahn of Kenya, Africa; five sons, John of Philadelphia, Tom of Flanders, N.J., Michael of Atlanta, Ga., Paul of Bangor and Timothy of Washington; her mother, Ann McAuley of Fla.; a sister, Christine Brings, and a brother, Howard McAuley, both of Long Island; and 12 grandchildren.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 Carlton Ave., Washington, with Fr. Blaise Baran officiating. Call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Warren Hills / Ford Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington.
