Obituary of Frederick S. Stires
Frederick S. Stires, 86, of Oxford Township, NJ, died Friday, January 30, 2009.
Born: He was the son of the late Doyle and Catherine Smith Stires
Personal: He was the beloved husband of Edna Kay Stires for 29 years. Fred was a World War II veteran of the Air Force. He enjoyed hunting, flea markets and camping. Memberships: He was a life member of the Disabled Veterans of American Legion - Post 103, a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, a life member of the NRA, and the NJ Rifle and Pistol Clubs.
Survivors: In addition to his wife; a son Frederick Jr. of Hope, NJ; two daughters, Kathlene Nixon of Forks Township and Robin Quinn of Indiana; a sister Harriet Boone of Harmony Township; seven grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; a stepson; a stepdaughter; two step-grandchildren; and a step-great-granddaughter. Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Reifinger Stires in 1979; a brother Doyle Jr. and two sisters, Evelyn and Naomi. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him, especially his long time friend, Carl Higgins. Services:
Services are private. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ.
