Obituary of Frederick S. Perry
Frederick S. Perry, 85, a lifelong resident of the Port Murray section of Mansfield Township, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, August 9, 2010 .
Born: June 29, 19 25 in Port Murray he was a son of the late Vassar and Mildred Perry.
Personal: His loving wife, Alma, passed away in 1993.
Fred served in the Army in the Philippines during World War II. He worked for Mansfield Township as a clerk and tax collector, retiring in 1991. Earlier in his life he worked for Perry Brothers General Store and Feed Mill in Port Murray, a family business started by his father and uncle.
He enjoyed carpentry and help build his own home. He also enjoyed gardening and mowing his lawn. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
Memberships: He was a member of Abundant Life Community Church; a life member and past chief of the Mansfield Fire Department; and a member of the Warren County Clerks' Association. Life member of the Warren County Chief's Association, A founding member on the Warren County Fire School Committee.
Survivors: Two daughters, Kathy Hubert and her husband Harry of Washington, Janice Thompson and her husband Scott of Harmony; three sons, John Perry and his wife Pam of Waxhaw, NC, Richard Perry and his wife Kathy, and Frederick A. Perry and his wife Maryann, all of Washington, 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Lois Parke, on August 3, 2010. two brothers Blanchard Perry and Paul Perry.
Services: Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. a firemen's' service will be held at 8:00 PM Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, August 13 at Abundant Life Community Church, 21 Cherry Tree Bend Road, Port Murray, NJ. Burial will be in Port Murray Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882.
