Obituary of Alfred D. Maglia
Alfred D. Maglia, 91, of Washington Township, NJ, died Monday, January 21, 2008 at his home.
Born: On June 10, 1916 in Bronx, NY, he was a son of the late Vincent and Maria Maglia.
Personal: He and his wife, Marie, were married for 67 years. Alfred had previously lived in Long Island, NY. He was employed as an inspector with Western Electric in New York City for 40 years. He had graduated from Newtown High School, Flushing, NY, Class of 1934. Alfred enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren, especially watching them wrestle, play football and basketball.
Memberships: He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Long Island, NY. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Washington, NJ.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife Marie, he is survived by a daughter, Marie Thorsen and her husband Tom of Washington; a son, Peter of Glen Oaks, NY; six grandchildren, Doug, Chris, Scott and Steve Thorsen and Peter Jr. and Autumn Maglia; 11 great-grandchildren, and his dogs, Gizmo and Benji. A great-grandson, Matthew Thorsen, died in 2003. Three sisters died earlier.
Services: Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with Fr. Blaise Baran officiating. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Alpha, NJ.
