I was deeply saddened to hear about Mike's passing. He was a truly kind and caring person, always taking the time to ask about others and genuinely interested in their well-being. He was a hard worker and I will miss seeing him every morning at work. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this difficult time.

My condolences to Sam and her family. He was way to young to leave his family.
May he Rest In Peace.

Prayers for comfort and peace for his family. I remember Michael as a baby - their family lived down the street from ours and I played with his sisters. I’m glad that he led such a full life and am sure that his family and friends have many wonderful memories of time spent with him.

Baseball, football, hockeyball, wiffleball, bowling, chase, APBA baseball, sitting at my dining room table reading boxscores, sleep overs, sleep outs, frisbee, hanging at the park, penny poker, coaxing guys to buy us beer outside Felix's, Cheap Trick concert, boring days and nights back and forth with "what do you want to do?' and ending up doing nothing, driving around and going nowhere, But we did it together,
We had a lot in common, much was just understood and not talked about. Even though you were a Yankee fan and I was a Met fan we still put up with each others trash talking.
Sometimes as we move on from high school friendships go through a natural progression and then there are those times when the transition is abrupt and unfortunately friendships suffer, not from a dislike or falling out but what can only be described best as an abandonment. We suffered the later through no fault or blame to one another it was just the cold hard lesson in the facts of life.
For anyone who has ever had to abandon someone or something knows the sense of guilt that comes it. There was never a friend who I carried a heavier weight of that guilt than with Mike. As time passed it got harder to try and search you out the few times life cracked that door open. Initially it was that guilt and sense of failure that held me back. Later when you were working with my niece we tried to get together but once again bigger life changes got in the way.
I hold out hope that one day we will again be playing flies, pops and grounders or one on one hockey ball. This time we won't get kicked out because of a wedding at the church.

Liz. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. Your children and your entire family on the passing of Mike. We spent many years playing softball together in the Washington/Mansfield League and years together in Virginia for The world’s Largest Softball Tournament. He was truly a genuine individual and will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him. Those years of memories will be cherished forever. May the Thompson family find peace and comfort in this very difficult time. Rest in peace my friend !!
