Obituary of Martha Marcie Unangst
Martha Gail "Marcie" Unangst, 71, a lifelong resident of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024, at the home of her daughter Gayle surrounded by her loving family.
Marcie was born on November 4, 1952 in Phillipsburg NJ to William and Nancy DeBacco. Marcie attended Washington High School and then stayed at home for many years to raise her four daughters. Her husband Jake passed away in August of 2020 after 50 years of marriage. In the early 90's Marcie went to work for Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital in Glen Gardner NJ as a Payroll Clerk and retired as a Payroll Supervisor on June 30, 2012. Marcie enjoyed baking and made many beautiful wedding cakes for friends and family over the years. She also enjoyed NASCAR and was a huge fan of the Earnhardt family. Marcie's favorite moments in life were spent with her husband Jake and their family along with their favorite furry companion JR (Fred) at their home on Lake Norman in Mooresville NC. She loved cruising around the lake on their Pontoon boat, especially when the grandchildren were there and were tubing behind them on the boat.
Marcie is survived by her four daughters, Gayle Swick and her husband Russ, Gretchen Winter and her significant other James Biggerstaff, Janelle Unangst, and Jennifer Unangst and significant other Brooks Schott; Grandchildren, Jarrell Swick and his wife Megan, Jeremy Swick and his wife Alex, Justin Swick, Taylor Newton and her husband Clark, Hailey Chrucky and her significant other Griffin Howey, Lexi Winter, Hayden Chrucky, Raechel Miele, and Madison Winter and a Great-grandson, Colt Swick. She also is survived by many sisters in law who she loved dearly and nieces and nephews that always held a special place in her heart.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday May 12, 2024 from 2-4 PM and again on Monday May 13, 2024 from 10-11 AM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Funeral service celebrating Marcie's life will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Stewartsville Lutheran Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Hospice or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Marcie's family would like to thank the amazing staff within the St. Luke's organization, but mostly the team from St. Luke's Hospice. The care you gave our mother and our family is something we will always hold close to our hearts.
