Obituary of Arthur W Thompson
Arthur W. Thompson, 78, of White Township, NJ passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024 at Morristown Medical Center with his loving family at his bedside. Arthur was born on April 8, 1946 in Washington, NJ to the late William and Olive Thompson (nee. Decker). Arthur was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and proud great-grandfather.
Arthur lived a full life. He grew up in Oxford, New Jersey and attended Washington High School. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy on the USS Shenandoah. Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy, Arthur married the love of his life Diane in 1967, with whom he raised 3 beautiful children. Arthur worked as an HVAC technician for many companies. He retired from CentralPac in July 2010. He was a member of the Local 475 Steamfitters Union.
Arthur's most beloved hobby was hunting. He was a lifelong member of the Sullivan Line Hunting Club located in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, where he made many cherished memories with his family and friends telling stories, sharing laughs, and enjoying the outdoors. He spent many Sundays cheering on his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He had the opportunity to visit AT&T Stadium twice while traveling across the country in his RV with his wife and dog, Diane & Dory.
No matter the time of year, you could usually find Arthur outside, whether it be building a wooden birdhouse, working on his cars and trucks, fixing something on his RV, or working in his yard. He and his wife took great pride in their landscaping and loved spending time together making sure it looked its best. He was extremely handy and loved to tinker with just about everything. Arthur cherished his family and loved his Jack Russel Terroirs.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife Diane (nee. Kinnaman) Thompson; his children, Tina Smith, Heather Smith and husband Glenn, and Keith Thompson; his grandchildren, Samantha, Glenn Jr. and wife Marissa, Brittney and fiancé Zack, Amanda and husband Louis, and Addison; great-grandchildren, Claire, Chase and Evelyn; as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his canine companion, Dory. He is predeceased by his brother George and sister Brenda.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 5 to 8 pm at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, which is located at 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arthur's name to a charity of one's choice.
