Obituary of Edythe S. Krug
Edythe Schempp Krug of Washington, NJ died on September 11, 2008 at Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth, PA. She was 82 years old.
Mrs. Krug was born Edythe Lydia Schempp on February 21, 1926 in Plainfield NJ to the former Ida Farley and Edward Schempp. She spent her childhood in Fanwood, but the family moved to Dunellen in her high school years. Mrs. Krug graduated from Dunellen High School with a classmate who was to become her husband of 59 years, E. George Krug. After their marriage in 1949, the Krugs settled in Green Brook, where they were very active in the civic, church and political life of the community for many years. Mrs. Krug was an officer of the New Market/Dunellen Women's Club, was an active volunteer at the Raritan Valley Hospital and campaigned vigorously for retaining its community hospital status. She was also active in the life of the Dunellen Methodist Church, the Plainfield chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, was an officer of VFW Post 5479 in Dunellen, and was active in local and state political affairs.
The Krugs moved to Washington in 1980 to be closer to two of their grandchildren. In Washington, Mrs. Krug became a member of Mansfield Chapter 36 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was Grand Representative to British Columbia and the Yukon, as well as Worthy Matron. She was a member of St Peter's Episcopal Church where she was on the Altar Guild, in the choir, and was a past vestry member.
The Krugs spent many summers at a family house on Long Beach Island, and were members and officers of the Beach Haven Park Yacht Club, and the Beach Haven Park Homeowners Association.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Krug is survived by her children, Jane Bradley of Green Brook, NJ, Ed Krug of New York City, and by Mindy McAllister of Easton, PA, stepmother to two of Mrs. Krug's grandchildren. Another daughter, Candace Caswell, predeceased her.
Mrs., Krug had three grandchildren, Leslie Skorets of Belvedere, Colin Bradley of Green Brook, and Amanda Read of Washington. Matthew Caswell, another grandchild predeceased her. Mrs. Krug also had a great-grandchild, Duncan Caswell of Phillipsburg.
Mrs. Krug leaves her three sisters, Margery Aber of Baltimore, MD, Jeanne Gamache of Manahawkin, NJ and Ida Knudson of Boca Raton, FL, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs., Krug enjoyed having family parties, the beach, playing golf, singing, and playing the guitar and the organ. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a devoted mother, generous friend and an advocate for others.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday September 14th at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue in Washington with an Eastern Star service at 6:00. A service celebrating Edythe's life will be held Monday September 15th at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Episcopal Church,127 Broad Street in Washington. Burial will be private.
