So sorry to learn of Mr. Skirbst's passing. He was my 7th grade history teacher at Myrtle Avenue School in Irvington. Certainly one of the most memorable teachers I have ever had! May his memory always be a blessing

Mr. Skirbst was my History teacher at Chancellor Avenue School in the mid 70s. I learned so much from him and he made it very interesting. I will never forget him and all that he taught his students. My condolences to his family.

I would first like to offer my sincerest sympathies to the Skirbst family in their loss. I did not have Mr. Skirbst in IHS but I did graduate with Peter FAS class of 73 and IHS class of 77. I sang with Ellen in the girls special chorus at FAS. I remember both of them fondly and am very sorry for your loss. Know that your dad is resting with the angels and how proud you must be of all his accomplishments.

R I P , Mr. Skirbst . I was a former student of his class. He taught us great respect for the American flag and the wars that took place and why they happen. Many of my fellow students of Chancellor Ave. School remember him well and praise his teaching ..We will never forget his famous quote. " Those who refuse to learn from the past are condemn to relive it 'He was also a friend of my family and my fathers campaign manager.

Ruth and I would like to send our deepest sympathy . We know you were close to your Dad. When those that are close to us leave our world. It will always seem too soon. Thinking of your Mom also with so many years together to remember . The memories will always be with you and your family . They are a gift in themselves .

Henry was a fellow author/historian who as mayor of Harmony Township revived the township historical preservation commission in 2000. It was a pleasure to work with him while covering the township committee years ago and during work at the VanNest/Hoff/Vanatta Farmstead. He enjoyed meeting residents and visitors to the farmstead open houses. He will be missed. To Ruth and the Skirbst family, please accept the heartfelt condolences from me and the Richards family.
