Obituary of MaryAlice Bockman
MaryAlice Bockman, 86, a lifelong resident of Oxford, NJ passed away peacefully on June 1, 2022 at Country Meadows of Bethlehem.
MaryAlice was born on December 26, 1935 in Glasgow, MT to the late Lawrence and E. Evelyn "Virgin" Kappler. A lifelong resident of Oxford, she was a graduate of Washington High School class of 1953. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from St. Joseph's College in Emmitsburg, MD and her Master's Degree in Health Education from East Stroudsburg University. Mary Alice was employed as a school nurse for White Township Elementary school for many years and later for Warren County Public Health Nursing. She was caring for the children and the people of Warren County for more than 25 years before her retirement in 1990. She also volunteered her time with Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice and Habitat for Humanity. Her loving husband Edmund B. Bockman passed away in 1997. She was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in Oxford. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, Red Hat Ladies, Warren County Seniors and the Oxford Historical Society. MaryAlice was passionate about the town's history and enjoyed sharing and preserving Oxford's heritage. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing the piano, traveling, and researching her family's ancestry.
MaryAlice is survived by 4 daughters, Anne Bayliss and her husband John, Joan DeBoer and her husband Richard, Catherine Hissim, and Laura Unger and her husband Steve; sons, Edmund Bockman and his wife Wendy and Peter Bockman and his wife Marisa; a brother, Lawrence Kappler and his wife Teresa; a sister, Elizabeth Kappler; 15 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, MaryAlice was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Miller, and a brother, William Kappler and a son in-law Timothy Hissim.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday June 5, 2022 from 4-7 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday June 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. 85 Academy St. Oxford, NJ 07863. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in MaryAlice's name to the Oxford Emergency Squad, 76 Academy Street, Oxford, NJ 07863, OR the Oxford Fire Dept, PO Box 417, Oxford, NJ 07863.
