Obituary of Philip R Carlson
Philip R. Carlson, 71, of Harmony Township passed away unexpectedly at Morristown Medical Center on October 5, 2021.
Philip was born on August 14, 1950 in Waukegan, IL to the late Raymond and Freda “Custis” Carlson. He grew up in Sylvania Ohio and then onto attend The Ohio State University. In high school he was selected to the All Ohio Boys Band and continued playing for The Ohio State Marching band. Phil graduated with a degree in teaching. He was a teacher for many years in Columbus, Ohio before moving to New York and becoming an operations manager for Hermany and Meadowbrook Farms, a milk production plant. Phil also worked for Krinos, a Greek yogurt manufacturer before moving to New Jersey. In New Jersey he worked at Growmark FS in Bloomsbury. Phil retired in 2017. He was skilled in woodworking and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed traveling, he completed the entire trip along the original Route 66. He was especially fond of his annual trips to Key West and his many trips to national parks in the United States and Canada. He was a kind soul who loved teaching, which made him a great father.
Philip is survived by his loving sons, David Carlson and Adam Carlson; his life partner, Mary Devine; a sister Susan Lapp and her husband Alan; a stepdaughter, Karli Taylor.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday October 12, 2021 from 4-6:30 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A service of remembrance will be celebrated at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
