Sally Stover

Obituary of Sally Stover

Sally Fewer Stover of Harmony, NJ, passed away September 29, 2021, surrounded by family and holding her children's hands. She came into the world September 13th 1946, the daughter of the late Walter and Marion (Decker) Fewer. Growing up in Plainfield, NJ, Sally loved singing in the choir, ice skating trips to Rockefeller Center with her father, and delighting in the wild antics of her beloved older brother, Jimmy Fewer. She graduated from Plainfield High School in 1964. While vacationing in Silver Bay, NY in 1959 she spotted a cool car and - after fibbing to the boy who owned it that she was old enough to drive - zoomed off with the car and the boy, who would eventually become her husband of 54 years, Thomas E. Stover. After graduating from James Madison University, she taught Business and Accounting for over 37 years in the Warren Hills Regional School District and Warren County Technical School where she led the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and was recognized as New Jersey Teacher of the Year in 1989. Sally will be most remembered for her love of family, travel, and adventure. She rode a camel in Morocco shortly before welcoming her first child. During one summer break, she loaded up the family station wagon and drove cross country with her daughter navigating and her son manning the CB radio. She loved traveling and had a knack for planning wonderful trips within the United States and abroad. She loved to garden and was a member of the Warren County Garden Club. She found a love of tennis and was a member of the Northwood Racket Club and played tennis competitively throughout the state. She then hung up her racket and picked up golf and would golf in any kind of weather as a longtime member of Harkers Hollow Golf Club. She wowed her grandchildren with her hole-in-one skills on the putt putt course. She loved music and danced anytime and often. Sally will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Sally was, put simply, a woman who knew how to live and inspire others to do the same. In honor of Sally please take a moment to dance or sing to your favorite song or find a quiet place outdoors to enjoy the view. She is survived by her husband Thomas E. Stover of Harmony, a daughter Sarah Stover of Harmony, a son Thomas C. Stover and his wife Nicole of Cherry Hill, and grandchildren Evelyn and Thomas H. Stover. In addition to her parents, Sally was predeceased by her brother James E. Fewer (Jimmy). A graveside service will be held privately at the Montana Mountain Cemetery in Harmony. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sally's name to Alzheimer's New Jersey, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 425 Eagle Rock Ave. Ste. 203, Roseland, NJ 07068, www.alznj.org.
