Obituary of Richard L Polhemus
Richard L. Polhemus, 73, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully at his home on July 24, 2021, with loved ones by his side.
Rick was born on April 3, 1948 in Somerville, NJ to the late Zenas and Margaret Polhemus.
Rick was a graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School class of 1966. He then joined the United States Navy and served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged in 1972, he went on to work as a Steamfitter with Local 475 out of Warren, NJ, before retiring in 2006. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and small game hunting with his friends in Maine, as well as, snowmobiling in Upstate New York. He was a regular at Flemington Speedway, and enjoyed his NASCAR Sundays. Rick loved the outdoors and planting flowers, painting the world around him with shades of green, attending his son-in-law's tractor pulls, watching his daughters' sports events while they were growing up, and had the honor of watching the many activities of his grandchildren. Many summers were spent at the beach in Seaside Park; riding bikes with his girls and catching and eating endless amounts of crab!
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Deborah and their three daughters: Britt DeLuca and her husband Jeremy, Ashley Melofchik and her husband Jarrett, and Samantha Giaquinto and her husband Frankie. Rick is predeceased by his loving daughter Kim Hill, who passed away in January of 2019. He also leaves behind his eight cherished grandchildren: Aiden, Dylan, Jax, Brooklyn, Siena, Jase, Hunter, and Makenzie. Richard is also survived by his brother: Robert Polhemus and his wife Nancy of Hampton, NJ.
