Obituary of John Andrew Cardenas
John Andrew Cardenas, 68, of Oxford, NJ passed away peacefully on July 15, 2021.
John was born on August 5, 1952 in Somerville, NJ.
He moved to High Bridge, NJ when he was a teen and attended High Bridge High School and made lots of friends and made many cherished memories. It was there where John would meet his lifelong friend Spencer Hockenberry. John would later meet his future wife Janet Chamberlain, who even after divorced remained close friends. He enjoyed assembling & painting model cars, writing (including his own memoir) and drawing. He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan since the 1960s. John worked for his father at Panel Hi-Tech and was a roofer a majority of his life.
John is survived by his three daughters; Doris Stryker of NJ, Mary Cardenas and her fiancé, Andrew Brown of NJ and Janet "Tiny" Cardenas of PA, his grandchildren; Damion Boyd, Jacob Boyd, Mason Boyd, Stephen Babus IV, Michael Webster, Grace Webster, and Gavin Harrison, and a great- granddaughter; Ava Boyd. He also leaves behind his siblings; James Cardenas of NJ, Bruce Cardenas of CA, and Joanne Gonzales and her husband Charlie of Virginia.
In addition to his parents, Jonathan and Mary Cardenas, John is predeceased by his brother, Brian Cardenas.
It is John's wishes to be cremated and eventually laid to rest with both his parents and his brother.
A memorial service celebrating John's life will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington NJ, 08882
