Obituary of Marina Kapralova

Marina Kapralova, 73, of Washington Township, NJ passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021 at Morristown Medical Center, with her daughter and grandson holding her hands. Marina was born on June 19, 1947 in Moscow, Russia. She emigrated to the US with her daughter Maria in 1994, where she was like a second mother to her grandson Kevin. Marina last resided in Washington Township. Every day of her life was spent by her daughter and grandson’s side. All her life she travelled around the world. She liked extreme sports like skydiving and climbing volcanos. Her passion was every living thing from animals to flowers. Her passion was also training and showing dogs, especially German Shepherds, poodles and Afghans. She brought any stray in off the street into her tiny Moscow apartment. Marina also loved to read and write – her favorite genre was crime novels. She was a captivating storyteller. She left many years of diaries that her grandchildren will someday read. She was a big fan of stage plays, musicals and movies. Her favorite movie was “The Greatest Showman” which she saw at least 32 times. Marina loved unconditionally, had an incredible sense of humor, and brought happiness and smiles to those who met her. As a mother and grandmother, she always knew what to say to settle hearts and minds. Above all she loved her family and treasured her time with them. She had a very deep bond with her daughter and grandson. They did everything together. She is survived by her loving daughter, Maria Van de Water and husband Jim, her cherished grandson, Kevin Kapral, her cherished dogs Nina, Jagger and Furby, her cats Chess and Truman, her loud parrot Polina, her sister Irina Kopnina and husband Simon, niece Katuschia Arharova and husband Artum, and their baby Daniel.
