Lois was a lifelong resident of the Washington area. She graduated from Washington High School, Class of 1950, where she was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. She married her soulmate Robert Blackwood in 1952. Lois was employed as a Telephone Operator for NJ Bell Telephone in Washington for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, where she served as Secretary for more than 30 years. Lois volunteered her time for Meals on Wheels, as a PTA Room Mother, and also with the Girl Scouts. She was past Master of the Washington Grange #117. Lois enjoyed sewing, cooking, crossword puzzles, and tending to her flower garden. She had a gentle laugh that filled a whole room. In addition to her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Blackwood, Lois is survived by her sons, Gregory Blackwood and his wife Nancy, and Glenn Blackwood; daughters, Linda Drake and her husband George, and Debra Gregor and her husband Jim; a daughter-in-law Andy Blackwood, and 11 grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her brother Lloyd Kinney; sisters, Beulah Apgar and Mildred Fournier. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lois's name can be made to the Washington United Methodist Church, 116 E. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882.
